Happy Birthday to My Book!

(Providence, Rhode Island)

I will always remember January 20, 2009. No, not just because I was covering the Inauguration of President Obama, but because it was also the day my first book was published and for sale to the public!

What a year it has been! My book tour--as with the campaign-- took me to the far corners of this great country, from Los Angeles and San Francisco, to New York, Boston, Washington, DC, the heartland cities of Chicago and Milwaukee, and many other places in between. I even made my first trip to Canada, with a stop in Toronto!

This never would have happened without the loving support of my family, my brothers and sisters, my step-mom and a million friends. Specifically, my editors were fabulous, with Shirley Davis Ware, Kathi Curtis, Tyler Curtis and Victoria Lorrekovich combing over chapters into the wee hours of many mornings. Thanks to my publisher, Fred Zimmerman at Nimble Books, LLC, for his faith in this project!

My sister Tierney donated I-don't-know-how-many thousands of her frequent flier miles for planes trips and hotels. Many in my extended family supported us financially and spiritually, and I thank you all. The book signing parties were a riot! Mom and Dad would be proud of all of us! They were looking down with big smiles, I know!

My publicists at SFPR in San Francisco and Missy Farren and Associates in New York were off the charts! Doug and Mark, my webmasters at Dagaz Solutions, are the best. www.DagazSolutions.com.

The book is still selling, and I am still being booked for speeches and media appearances, in addition to my new anchor/reporter duties at WLNE-TV ABC6 in Providence, RI. www.abc6.com. Thank you, Kevin O'Brien, for your undying faith in me!

If you would like to buy "Age of Obama: A Reporter's Journey with Clinton, McCain and Obama in the Making of the President 2008," just click on the blue book button on the right side of this screen! Email me if you would like to book me for a speaking engagement.

Thank you God, and everyone else, too!

Congratulations on the anniversary of your book's publication, Mark. This should be required reading for would-be reporters and politicians. I mean those starry-eyed high school and college students who feel destined for greatness in communication. It will be a reality check for them; but those who have a real calling for this profession (and not just a desire to look pretty for the cameras or to wield power) will be fascinated and more motivated than before to be "where it's happening" and to get the facts to the public.
