"Age of Obama" Book Tour Meets Another NFL Hall of Famer

(Danville, California)

One of my favorite parts of my book tour is that I never know whom I might meet.

A case in point was Monday, when I was playing in the San Francisco Bay Area Boy Scout Council's annual golf tournament. Every year it features lots of Oakland Raiders and other sports figures, past and present.

This year I got to meet someone whom I have admired for years, NFL Hall of Famer Jim Otto (photo above). He might best be known as the player who wore "00" on his jersey in the AFL and NFL.

Like me, Jim is a Wisconsin native (He's from Wausau, and I'm from Milwaukee.) who was educated in Florida (He, at the University of Miami; and I, at the University of Florida). Then we both wound up in the San Francisco Bay Area. Small world!

Anyway, we had a nice talk. It reminded me that fellow Oakland Raider and NFL Hall of Famer Dave Casper (also another "cheesehead"), showed up at my book signing in Chicago, where he now works for Northwestern Mutual Life! Lots of fun!

Ten percent of my book sale profits are being donated to charity, including the Boy Scouts of America. Two books were auctioned off at the golf tournament, with all the proceeds going to Scouting!

Tonight the "Age of Obama: A Reporter's Journey..." book tour returns to Lafayette Bookstore on Mt. Diablo Boulevard in Lafayette, www.LafayetteBookstore.com. Stop by!
